introducing me

My name is Lucy Stern, I am a current student at Elizabethtown College majoring in marketing and minoring in graphic design. While in school, I have learned many valuable skills to aid myself in becoming a better designer and marketer post-graduation, and have become very intrigued with creating content and visuals as a mode of work. This blog will serve as an outlet to house my creative thoughts, personal and professional experiences, and future aspirations.

Although I am only in my second year of college, my interest and passion for marketing and graphic design has grown immensely. When choosing a concentration to follow within my major, I wanted to choose a track in which would allow me to hone in on my creativity, and complement my minor of graphic design. Learning more about advertising and promotions solidified this thought of mine, ultimately becoming what I am interested in the most. While I am still deciding my goals for when I hopefully enter this area within the field, I know that I am choosing the right path for myself.

My passions outside of marketing lie mainly in sports, traveling, and music. I have played volleyball for a majority of my life, throughout high school and continuing at the collegiate level at Elizabethtown. When I’m not playing sports myself, I am a big fan of professional sports, mainly following Philadelphia sports teams. A lot of my time is also spent listening to music from really any genre, which leads into my love for concerts. I try to go to as many concerts as I can over the summers; I love the atmosphere and love getting to hear my favorite songs live. Another one of my favorite things to do is take trips to the beach. Ideally, if I could, I’d spend all of my time in a small beach town. A dream life of mine would include all of these things on the daily.

When thinking about future careers, my mind goes in many directions. A goal of mine for a long time has been to work for a professional sports organization, and this dream still holds true. On the other hand, I have become very intrigued by freelance work, smaller business marketing,  and a more personalized career path. I am definitely split in thoughts of future possibilities, but I am excited to explore both of these options over my remaining time in school.

I have a lot more left to experience during my time in school, and I will be able to document it all here. I will keep topics such as my future experiences, thoughts, and creativity up to date within this blog as not only a way to document it for myself, but to give insight to how I feel to others. If you’ve made it this far, I hope you’ve gotten to know me a little better.
